You don’t have to spend hundreds on ready-made grooming products in order to have health-looking, soft, clear skin or shiny, sexy looking hair.
You can use commonplace products you probably already have in your kitchen or bathroom cabinet to achieve the exact same benefits but only spending a fraction of the money.
I selected the following home-made grooming treatments because they are easy to make, and the ingredients are cheap and readily available. They can be fun to make, and even more fun to try on yourself or your partner.
Smoothing Skin Lotion
Mix one teaspoon honey with one teaspoon vegetable oil and 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice. Rub into hands, elbows, heels and anywhere that feels dry. Leave on ten minutes. Rinse off with water.
Get Healthy Glowing Skin Naturally
This recipe will help tighten your pores and make your face glow.
• 1 tsp. honey
• 1 tsp. cold milk
• 1-2 drops lemon juice
Mix all ingredients and apply to your face. Leave on for 15 minutes, and then rinse off with cold water.
Oatmeal – Baking Soda Bath
• 1 cup oatmeal
• 1 cup warm water
• 1 tbsp. vanilla extract
• 1/2 cup baking soda
Mix together in the blender or food processor until you have a smooth paste. Pour this paste under the running water while drawing the bath. Very soothing to dry, itchy skin.
The Super Bath Soaker
Add one quart whole milk and three tablespoons of lemon juice to a very warm bath. Slice some lemon and put in the water too. After 15 minutes, you will be energized and your skin will be silky smooth.
Olive Oil and Vitamin E Bath Soother
• 1/2 cup olive oil
• Liquid from 10 vitamin E tablets (make sure they are pure natural vitamin E and not
synthetic)
• 1/4 cup baking soda
Mix together with a wire whisk and pour into a tub under running water.
Homemade Bubble Bath
• 1 quart water
• 1 Bar Castile soap — grated
• 2 oz glycerin
• 2 oz coconut oil
• 15–20 drops of your favourite essential oils
Grate bar of Castile soap into one quart of water, warm water helps dissolve the soap faster. Allow the soap and water to mix well so that you have a liquid soap solution. Next add glycerin, coconut oil and essential oils and mix. Pour 1/4 -1/2 cup under running water and jump in.
Lemon Juice Toner
To reduce unwanted shine, combine ten drops lemon juice with 1/2 cup cold water. Saturate a cotton ball with the mixture, dab over skin and do not rinse.
Protein Toner
Beat together one tbsp. milk, one tsp. honey and one egg. Apply to face and neck. Leave on as long as desired. Rinse off with warm water followed by a splash of cold.
Yogurt Mask For Oily Skin
Apply natural unflavoured yogurt, adding honey and/or oatmeal if desired.
Avocado Eye Cream
• 5 drops almond oil
• 3 ripe avocado slices
Blend almond oil into avocado. Dab around eyes and leave on for five minutes. Rinse.
